A Stunning, Contemporary Transformation And Cat B Fit Out In The City
When we were asked to play our part in transforming an outdated commercial space into a sophisticated, contemporary workplace, we jumped at the chance. Working on the electrical refurbishment of Aldercastle in the City of London was equal parts exciting and challenging.
This future-focused office building is a stone’s throw away from the ancient London Wall. That meant we had to achieve a sensitive balance between history and modernity throughout our work on this remarkable property.

Creating striking contemporary spaces
Aldercastle was stuck in the 1990s at the start of this project. We were thrilled to be part of the team transforming its 45,000 sq ft of outdated commercial space into a premium office and co-working environment.
Our Category A office fit out comprised installing power, lighting, alarms, access control, modular wiring and distribution boards. This modernised the office space with sophisticated new systems, along with touchless operations and digital controls. This functionality underpinned our further Category B work on the premises, both inside and out. The result was an extensive commercial electrical fit out.

Impressive reception area
Making a striking first impression, our luxe lighting solutions added impact to the refurbished reception area. We installed 50 tuneable white pendant lights. Suspended from the ceiling of the double-height reception space, the pendant lights are not only functional, but eye-catching too.
Throughout the reception area, we installed LED strip lighting. LED is a more sustainable option due to its energy-saving properties. This enhanced the other natural elements of the lobby area such as its impressive oak-panelling and sustainable materials.
Pieces of artwork were highlighted with wall lights above and beside them. Signage was lit up to draw attention to branding.

Collaborative working spaces
The previous office space was replaced by modern co-working and breakout areas. Designed with flexibility in mind, they provide people with options for different types of work. Smaller booths are ideal for individual or small groups, with larger breakout areas for team collaboration.
Again, energy-efficient LED strip lighting was installed throughout these collaborative spaces. In the more intimate booth areas, we installed power points for laptops and other devices. Warm task lighting was installed to illuminate the otherwise dim booth areas too.

Inviting outdoor terraces
Creating more social spaces, terraces enable people to venture outdoors. We decided on a variety of lighting types for these exterior spaces. The combination of outdoor uplights, wall lights and garden spike lights create soft and versatile illumination.

Appealing employee facilities
Aldercastle places value on sustainability. Consequently, the health and wellbeing of the people within it are important too. End of trip facilities are an important addition to make people’s daily work lives easier. These include cycle parking, showers, changing rooms, lockers, hairdryers, irons and electric bike charging. Power, lighting and charging points are essential aspects of these useful facilities. We ensured they were installed to the highest standard, meeting British health and safety regulations.

Transformative results for this City workspace
Our category A fit out ensured that essential electrical systems were installed, making the workspace functional. There were multiple challenges to overcome in doing so. However, our experienced team was able to adapt, plan ahead and collaborate in order to achieve an incredible end result.
Our category B fit out transformed the building into a stylish, impressive, contemporary workspace. With striking yet considered lighting; sophisticated electrical systems; and well-equipped facilities to support people’s wellbeing; Aldercastle is now an incredibly desirable and appealing place to work.
This was a wonderful project to be part of, and we’re delighted with the fantastic result. If you’d like to discuss a potential project with us, please get in touch.
